Adani Energy acquires Mahan Transmission
Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL), Adani Group’s power transmission business, acquired Mahan Transmission Ltd (MTL), an intra-state transmission undertaking in Madhya Pradesh, from REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd.
The ₹2,200-crore project will involve developing 2,800 Mega Volt-Amperes (MVA) of substation capacity and 740 ckm of transmission lines. This expansion will increase AESL’s transmission network to 26,668 ckm and transformation capacity to 89,986 MVA. The project is expected to be finished by April 2027.
MTL would enable transmission of 1,230 MW of power from Adani Power’s upcoming 1,600 MW expansion units at Mahan in Singrauli district to the state grid. This project is anticipated to contribute towards Madhya Pradesh’s industrialization aspirations by enabling reliable and efficient transmission of electricity.
AESL won the order through Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) with RECPDCL acting as bid process coordinator. This is the seventh order win of AESL in the current fiscal year, taking its order book in transmission to ₹59,761 crore.
The purchase is aligned with AESL’s vision of augmenting shareholder value through organic and inorganic growth opportunities.
