BharatPe and Ashneer Grover settle disputes
BharatPay has officially settled its long-running dispute with its former co-founder Ashneer Grover. According to the settlement agreement, Grover will not have any position or interest in BharatPay. His family trust will manage his remaining shares, with a portion transferred to the Resilient Growth Trust for the benefit of the company.
The controversy began in early 2022 when Grover was removed as general manager. This led to a series of legal battles against Grover and his family including fraud cases filed by Bharat Pay, who sought compensation of over ₹88 crore Bharat Pay also filed a complaint with the Delhi Police Financial Offenses Commission ( EOW) which included the first Information Report (FIR) filed against Grover and others and charged.
As part of the settlement, both parties have agreed to drop any ongoing legal proceedings, marking the end of their contentious relationship. In its statement, BharatPay wished Grover well and reaffirmed its focus on providing innovative solutions and growth improvements . In a public statement, Grover expressed confidence in BharatPay’s leadership and its continued success.
The decision marks a significant development in the fintech space, ending one of India’s high-profile startup litigations.
