PM Modi meets tech CEOs in New York, discusses emerging technologies

On September 23, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and top technology executives in New York met on emerging technologies and India’s role in global innovation. Leaders like Sundar Pichai (Google), Arvind Krishna (IBM) and Naubar Afeyan (Moderna) attended the roundtable. Discussions focused on artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, biotechnology and quantum computing.

Modi highlighted India’s ambition to become a hub for industrial innovation and semiconductors. He invited the U.S. companies to collaborate and participate in India’s growing digital ecosystem. Key initiatives such as the “AI for All” initiative and the BIO E3 initiative were highlighted to showcase India’s progress in AI and biotechnology.

The meeting followed a series of talks between Modi and the US. After President Joe Biden played in both countries, where he lauded his countries’ efforts to strengthen the semiconductor supply chain Modi reiterated India’s commitment to protecting intellectual property and technological cooperation and position India as a global innovation leader. He also discussed opportunities for the U.S. with Indian companies have discussed joint development and joint product development, highlighting India’s growing financial and industrial sector.
